Before We Can Make Something New

Before We Can Make Something New

The next season has already started in our heads. There are saved images, notes, colors, fabrics, ideas and pieces we can’t stop thinking about. But before we get there, we have a very real number in front of us: 123 pieces.

That’s how many pieces we currently have left in stock at Lajendo, and right now, we’re on a mission to sell them. Not just because summer is coming to an end, but that is what will allow us to purchase our fall collection.

It’s as simple — and as real — as that.

The 123-Piece Mission

That’s why we’ve set ourselves a very straightforward challenge: sell the 123 items.

It’s also part of the reason behind our current sale, and we thought it was worth sharing what is actually happening behind it. Of course, we’d love for you to find something you’ve been thinking about at a very good price. But for us, every order that comes in right now also means something more.

123 becomes 122. Another package leaves the studio, another piece enters someone’s wardrobe, and we’re one step closer to being able to place our fall order.

And perhaps that is the part of having a small brand that we want to share more of. You usually meet a new collection when it’s finished: styled, photographed and ready to shop. What you don’t necessarily see is everything that had to happen for us to get there.

Building Lajendo This Way

Lajendo is still a small, self-funded brand. We don’t have an endless inventory budget or the ability to continuously bring in new collections regardless of how the previous ones performed. What we sell today has a very real impact on what we’re able to do tomorrow.

Sometimes that means waiting. Sometimes it means changing a plan, ordering less than originally intended or deciding that something simply isn’t right for us anymore. And sometimes it means looking at 123 pieces of existing inventory and deciding that selling those needs to be the priority before we make something new.

Because ultimately, we want to keep building Lajendo. We want to make the fall collection, continue developing the brand, get better at what we create and keep exploring what Lajendo can become. Doing that means being as thoughtful about what is already here as we are excited about what comes next.

Before We Can Make Something New

So that’s where we are behind the scenes at Lajendo right now. Fall is beginning to take shape through ideas, fabrics, samples and plans, while our current collections are still hanging on the rails.

Between the two are 123 pieces we need to sell.

We’ll keep you updated on how we’re doing. Hopefully, very soon, we’ll be telling you about a much smaller number, and eventually showing you what those 123 pieces helped us make next. 🖤
