How we elevate ourselves during the holidays

How we elevate ourselves during the holidays

A holiday wellness guide for body and mind.

The holiday season often arrives with full calendars, rich meals, late nights, and high expectations. It is a beautiful time of year, but also one that asks a lot of both body and mind.

At Lajendo, we believe wellness is not about doing more. It is about choosing a few intentional practices that support focus, strength, recovery, and presence. Small actions that help you move through the season feeling grounded rather than depleted.

This is our holiday wellness guide. A set of practices we return to during Christmas, designed to strengthen both body and mind and create space for care in the middle of everything else.

Reclaim your focus

Before the year turns, take a moment to intentionally close the year that is coming to an end.

Create a small ritual. Pour yourself a glass of something you enjoy. Sit down somewhere comfortable. Set a timer for ten minutes. Open the notes app on your phone or take a piece of paper and write down the answers to these three statements:

  • One personal moment from this year that mattered.
  • One professional lesson from this year you are proud of.
  • One experience from this year that stayed with you longer than expected.

When the timer ends, read what you wrote. This simple reflection helps you gain clarity, acknowledge growth, and decide what deserves your focus going forward.

Build mental strength through presence

Mental strength is built through consistency, not long sessions. Research shows that even five to ten minutes of focused, uninterrupted attention can help calm the nervous system and improve cognitive clarity.

One of the most effective ways to practice presence is reading. Create a simple ritual every second day. Five to ten minutes is enough. Read before bed, during a quiet morning, or instead of reaching for your phone.

To support different states of energy, mind, and emotion, we recommend choosing your reading based on where you are right now:

Atomic Habits if you feel motivated and ready to build structure and momentum.

Pilgrimage if you feel reflective, inward, or curious.

The Beekeeper of Aleppo if you are emotionally open and seeking depth and perspective.

Reading is not about finishing books. It is about strengthening focus and giving your mind a place to rest.

Fuel your body, steady your mind

What you eat is reflected in how you feel, think, and recover.

Nourishing your body supports mental clarity, stable energy, emotional balance, and healthy skin. During the holidays, this does not mean restriction. It means intention.

Vegetables rich in color provide antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that support brain health, reduce inflammation, and help the skin repair itself during winter. A simple guideline is letting half of your plate be filled with greens and color.

Think broccoli, Brussels sprouts, spinach, carrots, red cabbage, leafy salads, roasted root vegetables, and fresh herbs. These foods support digestion, circulation, and glow from the inside out, making indulgence easier to enjoy without feeling depleted.

Restore your energy from the inside out

Movement does not need to be intense to be effective. A short walk can be enough to reset both body and mind.

Aim for ten to twenty minutes outdoors. This amount of movement has been shown to reduce stress hormones, support mood, and improve focus. Leave your phone behind or keep it in your pocket. Walk without a destination. Try not to check your phone until you are back home or in the car.

Fresh air, daylight, and gentle movement help regulate the nervous system and create a calmer rhythm to your day.

Let recovery do the work

Recovery is where care becomes visible.

Hair, skin, and overall appearance often reflect what is happening internally. Stress, cold weather, dry air, and lack of rest tend to show quickly, especially during the winter months. Instead of adding more steps, we believe in choosing a few products that support repair while you rest.

A nourishing argan hair oil helps restore moisture, protect the lengths, and add softness and shine. A leave in night treatment works while you sleep, strengthening and repairing without effort.

One product we consistently recommend is the Kevin Murphy Night.Shift. It is designed to repair, hydrate, and protect the hair overnight, making it an easy addition to your routine with long term benefits.

This is care that works quietly in the background. Consistent, supportive, and built for recovery.
